Au premier plan, à gauche, la vasque de la loggia surmontée du Mercure de Giambologna (copie du XIXè de l'original du XVIè siècle). Au centre la piazzale avec les parterres. A droite, la terrasse du Bosco L'Académie de France, créée par Louis XIV en 1666, a été transférée à la ville Médicis en 1804, par Napoléon. La villa a été restructurée en 1564 pour le compte du Cardinal Giovanni Ricci di Montepulciano avant de devenir la propriété des Médicis. Elle dépend aujourd'hui du ministère français de la culture. Des artistes de toutes les disciplines y sont toujours accueillis en résidence et l'établissement organise des expositions et des manifestations culturelles. Le bâtiment est caractéristique des villas romaines des 16ème et 17ème siècles, avec loggia, façade décorée d'éléments antiques, de statues et jardin à l'italienne avec allées, fontaines, sculptures, studiolo. On peut visiter la villa et le jardin en groupe avec un guide. La villa Médicis est située sur la colline du Pincio, à proximité de l'église "Trinita dei Monti" et de la place d'Espagne, un des hauts lieux du tourisme à Rome, elle jouit d'une vue extraordinaire sur Rome (voir le panorama) www.villamedici.it/ |
