Description
Español: La naumaquia (combate naval entre romanos), óleo sobre lienzo, 125,6 x 200,5 cm. 1894. Firma ángulo inferior izquierdo. Esta obra fue presentada en la Sociedad Nacional de Bellas Artes de París, 1894 y obtuvo medalla de oro en la Exposición Internacional de Atlanta en 1895. "No hallo modo de pintar en mis toscos renglones toda la viveza, todo el movimiento el colorido y la brillantez que se observa en el animado conjunto del combate naval naumaquia llena de estilo y de sentimiento, en la que hallaría el señor Checa la base de su fama si esta no estuviese ya tan bien sentada".("El Nacional!, Madrid, 23 de abril de 1894). Museo Ulpiano Checa. Donación de los hijos del pintor, 1955.
