Description

La cour intérieure du Castel Béranger, on peut y observer la variété des matériaux utilisés : briques, meulières et pierres de taille et le travail spécifique effectué sur les parties hautes du bâtiment.

Le Castel Béranger est un immeuble de rapport de trente-six appartements situé 14, rue La-Fontaine dans le 16e arrondissement de Paris. Il a été conçu par l'architecte Hector Guimard. Sa construction a lieu à partir de 1895 jusqu'en 1898. C'est un chef d'oeuvre d'art nouveau français.

Summary

  • Hector Guimard y applique un principe fondamental de l’Art nouveau : celui de l’unité complète de l’œuvre. Il est également, et comme à son habitude, l'auteur du second-œuvre et de la décoration intérieure (sols, menuiserie, serrurerie, vitrerie et vitrail, peinture, tapisserie et papier-peint) mais aussi du mobilier.
  • On retrouve à l'extérieur plusieurs thèmes chers à l'auteur : le bow-window, la loggia, le balcon et la ferronnerie ouvragée.
  • L’immeuble est primé au 1er concours de façades de la Ville de Paris en 1898, mais cette nomination est critiquée.
