| Description |
Français : Metz était à la bordure de la nation française depuis de nombreux siècles, dès lors elle devait une place forte pour défendre cette marche. De nombreuses casernes et bataillons y trouvèrent place. Cette caserne du XIXe siècle n'est pas une construction prussienne comme la majorité des ouvrage du XIXe. Elle fut construite entre 1841 et 1844 pour moderniser les besoins militaires de l'état-major local. Son nom provient du maréchal éponyme ayant commencer sa carrière à Metz et ayant suivie Napoléon dans nombre de ses combats (il fut d'ailleurs fusillé pour cela).
