La Ménitré (Maine-et-Loire) Manoir de Jeanne de Laval. Jeanne de Laval's manor house. L’élégant manoir, de son vrai nom « Grenier-aux-Rentes », date du XVe siècle. Ce manoir voulut par le Roi René fut construit spécialement pour sa seconde épouse Jeanne de Laval, d’où son nom. Jeanne de Laval qui était "douce et affectueuse", épousa René Ier d'Anjou, qui avait 24 ans de plus qu'elle et était veuf, en septembre 1454, à Angers. A cette date, René d'Anjou, avec son maître d’œuvre Guillaume Robin*, commence les travaux d'agrandissement et de modernisation de ses résidences de la Ménitré*, Baugé, et Launay, après s'être occupé des châteaux d'Angers et de Saumur. Jeanne et René vécurent environ trois ans dans les manoirs des environs d'Angers et de Saumur, puis en Provence pendant cinq ans. Ils revinrent en Anjou à partir de 1462. A la mort de René d'Anjou en 1480, sans enfant, Jeanne hérita de très nombreux revenus. Elle meurt en 1498. En 1824, la nouvelle municipalité s'installe dans le manoir, avant de construire la mairie actuelle. La nouvelle mairie fut inaugurée en 1870 et le manoir abandonné. Le manoir connut plusieurs locataires qui transformèrent ce domaine en réserve de graines. Les établissements Vilmorin sont propriétaires du manoir depuis 1972. La cheminée au-dessus de la cour est le seul vestige du cabinet de travail du roi.
