Description The U.S. Navy tank landing craft LSU-1451 unloading M4 Sherman tanks during "Operation Rendezvous", a joint amphibious exercise in the Far East, in 1952. LSU-1451 was commissioned on 16 September 1944 as LCT-1451 and served in the Pacific theater of war. It was redesignated Landing Ship Utility LSU-1451 in 1949 and was assigned to LSU Division 31 during the Korean War. Following the Korean War, LSU-1451 participated in the evacuation of French citizens from Indochina in 1954. On 15 April 1956 it was redesignated LCU(F)-1451 and served with Amphibious Construction Battalion Unit 1 (PHIBCB-1) in Yokosuka, Japan. It was equipped to install a retreivable fuel system. LCU(F)-1451 later served in the Vietnam War and was transported back to the U.S. where it served with PHIBCB-1 als late as 1974. Its final disposition is unknown.
