Description
English: It is the second largest species after Siberian tiger. Its coat is yellow to light orange, with stripes ranging from dark brown to black; the belly & the interior parts of the limbs are white, & the Two white stops on the back of ears, mimic eyes. Nose & paw color is pink. Tail is orange with black rings & a muscular body.

Facts 1. The tiger is the biggest species of the cat family. It is considered to belong to the world's Charismatic megafauna. It is the national animal of both India & Bangladesh. It used to be called Royal Bengal tiger. 2. Native to the Indian Subcontinent. The tiger is estimated to be present in the Indian subcontinent since the Late Pleistocene, for about 12,000 to 16,500 years. 3. Tigers are icons of beauty, power, & the importance of conservation. Stripes are like fingerprints, with no two tigers having the same pattern. 4. They consume 5-6 kg meat daily & may eat 40 kg in a go. Diet consists of Gaur, Water buffalo, Sambar, Chital (deer), wild boar & elephants. They are incredibly strong & are able to drag their prey heavier then itself almost half a mile. 5. A group of tiger is called a streak or ambush. 6. They can easily jump over 5 metres in length. 7. They are good swimmers and can swim up to 6 kms. 8. It is threatened by poaching, loss, & fragmentation of habitat, & was estimated at comprising fewer than 2,500 individuals by 2011. Specs: Scientific name: Panthera tigris. Family: Felidae Height: 3.5 ft approx. Weight: 250-350 kg approx. Length: upto 3-3.3 meters / 9-11 ft. Life Span: 10-12 years approx (some may live up-to 18 years). Canine: 4 inches. Bite Force: upto 1050 psi. Claws: 3 inches. Speed: 65 kmph / 40 mph. Territory: 10-4000 sq mile. Diet: Carnivore. Habitat: Asia; mainly Dense forests from Bangladesh to India, Nepal & Bhutan.
