Title
LANCUM-720D42: Possibly Roman nail cleaner/part of cosmetic set
Description
English: Probably a cast cu-alloy nail cleaner/small fork of a cosmetic set dating from the early Roman period, i.e. AD43-150. The shaft is flat-rectangular in cross-section and while one end terminates in a suspension loop, the other one terminates in two small prongs which are now broken/damaged. If this is a set of nail cleaners, it is probably a Crummy Type 1a or 1b with a simple thickish shaft and a suspension loop rising directly from the shaft, being on the same plane. Crummy dates these types to the late 1st and very early 2nd century.
