Description
Français : L'arc, sculpture de Michel de Broin, installée dans le jardin des Floralies, parc Jean-Drapeau, près du Casino de Montréal
On peut y lire un hommage à Salvador Allende (1908-1973) :
« Médecin et homme politique, Salvador Allende est président du Chili de 1970 à 1973. Son mandat se termine brutalement le 11 septembre 1973 : un coup d'État dirigé par Augusto Pinochet renverse le gouvernement socialiste et instaure une dictature militaire de 17 ans. L'œuvre se veut un rappel des valeurs défendues par Allende. L'arbre, par son double enracinement, jette un pont entre le pays d'origine et Montréal comme terre d'accueil de la communauté chilienne.
