Lübeck wurde um 1000 nChr als slawische Siedlung an der Trave gegründet. Graf Adolf II von Schauenburg gründet 1143 eine Kaufmannssiedlung auf dem Platz der zuvor zerstörten slavischenSiedlung. Nachdem diese 1157 durch Feuer wiederum zerstört wurde wird Lübeck 1159 von Heinrich dem Löwen neu gegründet. 1160 dann erhielt Lübeck das Soester Stadtrecht und ein Jahr später das Artlenburger Privileg. Damit war die Stadt den gotländischen Kaufleuten gleich gestellt und konnte Handel treiben. Von Kaiser Friedrich II erhielt die Stadt 1226 den Reichsfreibrief und wurde damit reichsunmittelbare Stadt. Lübeck ist die zweitgrößte Stadt Schleswig-Holsteins und ist flächenmäßig die größte Stadt. Die Altstadt gehört zum UNESCO Kulturerbe. |
