Description
Français : L’ église Santa Maria (Sainte-Marie) de Portbou a été construite en 1878 par la Companyia dels Ferrocarrils de Tarragona a Barcelona i França pour offrir un service religieux à son personnel. Elle est de style néo gothique. On peut constater que cette église est en deux parties: le clocher est constitué par une tour hexagonale séparée du bâtiment proprement dit de l’ église. En arrière plan, au-delà des voies ferrées, sont stockés des essieux. Ce matériel est nécessaire car l’ écartement des rails est différent sur les lignes ferroviaires Perpignan-Cerbère (voie standard, 1435 mm) et Portbou-Barcelone (voie large, 1668 mm). Les trains qui passent la frontière doivent avoir, ainsi, leurs essieux changés s’ils ne sont pas équipés de bogies adaptables aux deux écartements.
