Description
Norsk nynorsk: Fotoet viser eit såkalla kristnateppe i storleik 100 cm x 63 cm. Eit kristnateppe er ein spesiell åkletype som vart brukt til å sveipe rundt eller dekke til barn på kyrkjevegen når dei skulle døypast (kristnast). Fram til 1771 skulle dette vere gjort innan barnet var åtte dagar gammalt. Desse åkleda vart brukte i ei tid då kyrkjeferda kunne vere ei strabasiøs reise på vinterstid, ofte både til fots og i båt. Dette kristateppet er vove i skilbragd, der renning og innslag i botnveven er bomull og mønsterinnslaga i raudfarga ull. Det kjem frå Nord-Oppedal i Kinn (tidlegare Vågsøy) kommune i Vestland (tidlegare Sogn og Fjordane) fylke. Alderen på teppet er ukjend.
