Das Schloss Seeburg ist eng mit der Stadtgeschichte Kreuzlingens verbunden. 1598 ließ es der Konstanzer Junker Jakob Atzenholz errichten. Später diente es den Äbten des Kreuzlinger Augustinerstiftes als Sommerresidenz. 1633 brannte es vollständig aus und wurde erst 1664 wieder aufgebaut. Ab 1833 war das Thurgauer Lehrerseminar dort untergebracht. 1850 erwarb Gottfried Ferdinand Ammann das Anwesen, der es in sein heutiges Aussehen umbauen ließ. Seit 1958 ist es im Besitz der Stadt Kreuzlingen. 1982 - 1984 wurde es umfangreich renoviert. Bis in die 1960er Jahre, als der Bodensee dort aufgeschüttet wurde, stand das Schloss direkt am See. Seit geraumer Zeit ist dort auch ein Café mit Terrasse unterbracht. (Gegenlichtaufnahme) |
