English: Siru Dhaaniyam Koozhu (Millet Porridge) is one of the important Traditional dishes of south India. This porridge is made up of mixture of millets such as Kelvaragu(finger millet),Varagu(kodo),Kambu(pearl millet),Kuthiravali(Barnyard Millet)and saamai(Little millet) which are considered to be high in nutrition. This dish has a lot of health benefits which makes it a must dish of human diet giving the best of vitamins required to maintain a balanced healthy body. Benefits include regulating body temperature, controlling of Sugar & BP levels, Strengthening of bones and keeps stomach full for long hours which in turn control from over eating leading to obesity as well. This one is a dish of high nutritional value from various millets all in a single package.
This is a must compulsory dish during summer in every household to keep you hydrated and full. It is served chill with curd mixed to a drinking consistency and can be taken at any time of the day. Small Onions,Chilies,Mangoes and dried vatthal are taken a bite alongside .Try it once and you will love it for sure. |
