English: Meet PFC. Adriana Barahona, a Dental Specialist assigned to Charlie Company, 53rd Brigade Support Battalion, 53rd, Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Barahona and her unit are currently deployed to Albania in support of DEFENDER-Europe 21. “I think Defender Europe shows how much we care about our allies” Barahona said. “We move everyone to different countries to train with them, It's amazing."
"It's really fun working with them" Barahona said of the Albanian cadets. Although she has been on many stateside missions this is her first time deploying overseas. "They love America and are really fascinated with everything we do, and I learned a lot about their culture." Now she is tasked with supporting the clinic at the 53rd's Land Force Command while deployed in Albania. Her team established a clinic for the site and conducted joint training with Albanian forces as part of DEFENDER-Europe 21, a large-scale U.S. Army-led exercise designed to build readiness and interoperability between U.S., NATO allies and partner militaries. This year more than 28,000 multinational forces from 26 nations will conduct nearly simultaneous operations across more than 30 training areas in more than a dozen countries from the Baltics to the strategically important Balkans and Black Sea Region.
