[edit]DescriptionKizimen cropped reduced 2 by Don Page 2010 12 10 03 14 UTC.jpg |
English: This is a cropped reduced version of the second aerial telephoto picture of the eruption of Kizimen Volcano in Kamchatka taken by Don Nelson Page (Professor of Physics, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), 981x656 pixels, with a Nikon D80 digital camera and an AF-S Nikkor 18-200 mm zoom lens (probably set at 200 mm) on 2010 December 10 at 03:14 UTC (2:14 p.m. local Kamchatka time) from Seat 36K of Air Canada Flight 063 from Vancouver, Canada, to Incheon-Seoul, Korea. According to emails from Russian volcanologists Olga Girina (Institute of Volcanology and Seismology FED RAS, Head of KVERT blv. Piip, 9, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia 683006) and Evgeny Gordeev (Director of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology RAS) and from the Alaskan Volcano Observatory volcanologist Christina Neal (USGS - 4200 University Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99508, USA), this and 18 other photos by Don Page on this occasion appear to be the only ones of Kizimen Volcano at this initial stage of its December 2010 eruption. Kizimen Volcano is said to have the potential of a Mount-Saint-Helens-type eruption. |
