Description

Koroki Te Rata Mahuta Tāwhiao Pōtatau Te Wherowhero was the fifth Māori monarch to head the Kīngitanga movement. He became the Maori King in 1933. Koroki died on May 18 1966 and was buried on Mount Taupiri on 23 May. He was replaced by Arikinui Te Ātairangikaahu, the first Maori Queen.
