Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Kindertransport This remarkable and poignant statue at Liverpool Street Station remembers those thousands of Jewish children who left Germany in the years before the Second World War. Fearing persecution from the Nazi regime in the late 1930s, many Jewish parents sent their children to the safety of Britain. They arrived by boat at Harwich then went by boat-train to London's Liverpool Street Station. Many never saw their parents again. It was known as the Kindertransport and today some of those children, now over 80 years old, still meet regularly.
