| Description |
English: Killary Harbour (it), county Galway and county Mayo, Ireland. Looking south east down Killary Harbour you can see large fish farms stretching along the length of the fjord. To the right of the picture is the 'famine road', built as a kind of poor relief scheme during the Irish famine of 1845-49. Abandoned farm buildings and field systems on the steep sides of the fjord provide further evidence of the events of that time. |
