Description
English: Kernite
Locality: Boron, Kramer District (Kramer Borate District), Kern County, California, USA
Dimensions: 3.4 cm x 2.3 cm x 1.8 cm
ARTIFICIAL: Kernite is a rare borate, named after the namesake California county where it was discovered. It is extremely rare in sharp crystals, usually occurring as cleavages. These extremely rare, sharp, glassy and translucent crystals are artificial and are from the borax vats at the refinery. We have never seen anything like it, except for the few, rare natural crystals. Ex. Al Ordway Collection.
