Description
English: 1690-1720. Copper alloy, cast, sub-rectangular shoe buckle with drilled frame for separate spindle. Length 41.8mm, Width 28.6mm, Thickness 3.5mm, Weight 8g. Rounded outer edge and bevelled inside edge with scalloped internal moulded design, otherwise plain type. Some remnants of tinned surface but minus the centre piece. Attractive dark green patina but some surface corrosion and two corners have chipped away due to corrosion. Ref. Buckles 1250-1800, Ross Whitehead, Greenlight Publishing 1996, Page 100-103 No. 660.
