Description |
English: Engraving of Haarlem heroine Kenau Simons Hasselaer dated 1760. It is based on an anonymous painting of her where she is portrayed at age 47 in 1573, after the Protestant Reformation. This painting was hanging in the Amsterdam mayor's office in 1760 (he was a descendant - Gerard Arnout Hasselaer). This engraving appeared in a monthly magazine (total number of issues 45) published by Isaac Tirion with historic sketches of Holland in 1760, called 'Hedendaagse Historie'.
