Description
English: Feodor Iwanowitsch Kalmyk (1763-1832) shown among the 20 most famous Germans of the 19th century, including Goethe and Schiller. He is in the middle of the second row from the top. The writing above says in German and French: "Die beruhmten Deutschen vom 19te Jahrhundert", "Les Allemands celebres du XIXeme siecle", both meaning "Famous Germans of the 19th Century". A rare instance of an Asian (ethnic Kalmyk, in other words Western Mongolian) rising to fame in Western Europe at that time.
