Description
Српски (ћирилица): Београдска тврђава се налази на повољном геостратешком положају, на брегу изнад ушћа Саве у Дунав. Развој утврђења може се пратити кроз материјалне остатке из различитих епоха: од античког каструма, византијског кастела, средњовековног утврђеног града – до модерне бастионе тврђаве 18. века. Крајем I века на овом месту формиран је логор легије IV Flavia који је обновљен у време цара Јустинијана. На подручје Сингидунума Словени продиру почетком VII века, али се име Београд први пут помиње у историјским документима 878. године. Велики успон Београд доживљава почетком XV века када је у доба деспота Стефана Лазаревића постао главни град Србије. Средњовековна тврђава имала је унутрашње утврђење у северозападном делу Горњег града, источно и западно подграђе, пространи Доњи град и пристаништа на Сави и Дунаву. Београдска тврђава археолошки се истражује од 1936, док се конзерваторски радови обављају од педесетих година XX века.
English: Belgrade Fortress consists of the old citadel (Upper and Lower Town) and Kalemegdan Park on the confluence of the River Sava and Danube, in an urban area of modern Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Belgrade Fortress was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1979, and is protected by the Republic of Serbia.
