Description
English: The famous Kalanki Mai temple located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 14. The temple is located on the left side of the road in front of Kalanki Ring Road Chowk from Kalimati under the shade of a pipal boat. In the very decorated Kalanki Mai's temple, the brass serpent placed on all four sides instead of the gajur has made it even more beautiful. The idol of Kalanki Devi is in the right corner at a depth of about 8 feet from the flat ground. Although this temple is considered to be very old, the bell of 1964 BC proves that it is earlier than that. It is estimated that the name of it is mentioned in the inscription of the time and it is a corruption of the same name. It is possible that the name remained because the person who was stigmatized for some crime removed the stigma while worshiping these goddesses. There is a statue of Bhairav at the back of the temple and on the left are Saptarishi place, Laxminarayan, Vishwavirat Swarup, Mahasaraswati place and Shiva temple. There is a belief that worshiping this goddess will make you successful when you go abroad and will alleviate your suffering. To the right and left of the idol of Kalanki Devi are various small deities. Even though there is a daily crowd of devotees, especially on the great festival of Nepalis, Bijaya Dashami, there is a swarm of devotees in the morning. Looking at this temple from all directions, it looks very attractive.
