Title |
KENT-D0E578. Gold post medieval posy ring, inscription. |
||
Description |
English: Gold posy ring, comprising a thin flat hoop, the exterior decorated with a wavy ribbon with foliate motifs filling the spaces. This would once have contained enamel, and traces of black enamel remain. The inside inscribed in lower case: 'In this little all', with a good deal of the original black enamel. There is also a vestigial maker's mark or date letter, now illegible. The inscription is not recorded by Joan Evans in the list of inscriptions published in her 1931 work, but a similar thought is expressed on a ring from the Joan Evans gift to the British Museum; this reads 'tho little accept it'. |
