English: Airman 1st Class John Reschke has lunch aboard a KC-135R/T Stratotanker while on the way to an air refueling mission in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. With a little more than two years in the U.S. Air Force and only a few weeks after accomplishing certification in his job as the refueling boom operator, he was deployed to the 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron, Southwest Asia. Sitting at the former navigation station, he is enjoying a candy bar while keeping an eye on a GPS aided laptop that shows a constantly moving updated display of the aircraft's position on a standard navigational chart. This is one of many onboard systems that helps the crew know exactly where they are, day or night, and in all weather conditions. He is a native of Orlando, Fla. and is stationed with the 905th Air Refueling Squadron, Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Lance Cheung) |
