[edit]DescriptionK-9 Duty at Port of Djibouti DVIDS167997.jpg |
English: U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Eliot Fiaschi and his partner "Meky" assigned to the Military Working Dog Unit at Camp Lemonier, board a tug boat prior to a sweep of the boat, April 23, at the Port of Djibouti. Fiaschi and Meky are one of the MWD teams assigned to Camp Lemonier, which stand duty at the Port of Djibouti inspecting ships, tugboats and piers for possible explosives/narcotics as well as routine security patrols. The service members of Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability. |
