Bronze Age Burial Site. An archaeological excavation carried out on the front lawn of Castletown House in 2010 revealed evidence for part of a Bronze Age cemetery site dated 2000BC. One of the four crouched burials was interred in a stone-lined pit, accompanied by a ceramic food vessel. Three other individuals and four cremation burials were in simple unlined pits. Analysis of the remains recorded both adults and children. These burials appear to form part of a much larger Bronze Age burial cemetery which likely extends beyond this area of excavation.
