orted to be one ofthe directors of the Collosol concern (Jour,A. M. A., March 4, 1922, p. 674. Hales Epileptic Relief.—According to ad-vertisements in certain cheap weeklies, HalesEpileptic Relief is prescribed by the best NewYork specialists. These advertisements offerto send a $1.50 bottle free. Those who answerthe advertisement receive a 4-ounce (118.4cubic centimeter) bottle of a brown liquid anda small package of tablets, also a sample boxof Hales Lj^er Tablets. The American Medi-cal Association Chemical Laboratories analyz-ed these preparations, and reported that thepreparations give tests for ammonium, sodium,potassium and bromids, and that the bromidcontent is equivalent to 20.73 gm. of potas-sium bromid per hundred c.c. The tabletswere found to contain emodin bearing (lax-ative) drugs—possibly aloes (Jour. A. M. A.,March 4, 1922, p. 672). Continued on page VII. None but ethical advertisements wanted or accepted. vi.
