Date : 1915 à 1919 Sources : Archives personnelles : En possession des originaux. Lieu : Camp de prisonniers de Kurume, Japon.

C'est pendant son service militaire que mon grand-père (d'Alsace annexée par l'Allemagne depuis 1870) sera affecté en Chine dans la ville de Tsingtao. Ville de garnison dans la province de Shandong seule colonie allemande en Chine. Au moment de son débarquement, la 1ère guerre mondiale éclate et les japonais avec l'aide de leurs alliés britanniques attaquent les allemands. Après deux mois de siège, la 4ème compagnie du IIIème bataillon de marines sera interné au camp de Kurume (Seesoldat in der 4. compagnie des III seebataillons).
