Z policejní vazby v Praze jej Němci deportovali do Malé pevnosti Terezín. Odtud byl převezen do koncentračního tábora Mauthausen, kde byl zastřelen ranou do týla z malorážní pistole v odstřelovacím koutě mauthausenského bunkru dne 24. října 1942 v 15.40 hodin.
English: Josef Čejka (* 30 October 1873 Olešnice in south-western Poland, Lower Silesian Voivodeship - 24 October 1942 Mauthausen concentration camp) was a manufacturer and founder of a bicycle factory in Turnov. In 1942, he was already of an age to spend his retirement in Kacanovy (Semily district in the Liberec region, about 4 km south of Turnov). In Kacanovy he was also a member of the local Sokol organization. Josef Čejka was arrested on 21 August 1942 as part of a raid against Professor Vladimír Krajina (* 30 January 1905 Slavice u Třebíče - 1 June 1993 Vancouver, Canada). From police custody in Prague, the Germans deported him to the Small Fortress of Terezín. From there he was taken to the Mauthausen concentration camp, where he was shot in the back of the head with a small-calibre pistol in the sniper's corner of the Mauthausen bunker on 24 October 1942 at 3.40 pm. |
