Norsk bokmål: 2008-07-15 Baku, AZ: Jomfrutårnet er 29m høyt og ble bygd på 1100-tallet. Den romantiske forklaringen på navnet går ut på at den ble bygd av en hersker som hadde forelsket seg i en egen datter. Datteren sa seg villig til å gi seg til faren hvis han først bygde et tårn hun kunne se hele riket hans fra. Da tårnet stod ferdig klatret hun til toppen og kastet seg utfor. Den mer prosaiske forklaringen på navnet er at tårnet aldri har blitt inntatt.
English: 2008-07-15 Baku, Azerbaijan: The Maiden's Tower is 29m tall and was built in the 12th century. The romantic explanation of the name is that there was a ruler who fell in love with his own daughter. She was willing to give herself to him if he first built a tower so tall that you could see all of his domain from the top. When it was completed she climbed to the top and threw herself from it. The more likely explanation is that the tower itself has never been taken.
