Description
English: The field cross of Lieutenant John Philip Morton Carpenter on the wall of the south walk of the cloisters of Salisbury Cathedral.
He was the son of the Ven. Harry William Carpenter, Archdeacon in the Salisbury Diocese and his wife Annie.
Lt. Carpenter was in the Royal Field Artillery and died on 16th September 1916 during the Battle of the Somme. He is buried in Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, France.
