Description
English: Dr. John Linvill, inventor of the Optacon reading device for the blind, demonstrating the Optacon with his blind daughter, Candy, in April 1974. Pictured above Miss Linvill is Loren Schoff reading with the Optacon. Pictured behind Dr. Linvill is the One-Hand Optacon, then under development at Stanford University by Dr. John Linvill, Dr. Roger Melen, and Dr. Harry Garland. Dr. Linvill was Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University.
