John D Sloat Monument 2019

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The monument originally was to be a statue of Sloat but the sculptor in San Francisco had finished the statue but it was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake. The city didn't have the money to start over so the sculptor said "Well I have this eagle". This was the story the docent told me on a historic walk of the Presidio.
