Deutsch: Josef Erich „Joe“ Zawinul (7. Juli 1932 — 11. September 2007) war ein österreichischer Jazz-Pianist, Keyboarder, Komponist, Bandleader und Arrangeur.
Im Mai 2004 eröffnete Zawinul in seinem Wiener Heimatbezirk-Landstraße,den Jazz- und Musikclub „Birdland“ im Souterrain des Hilton Hotels (Landstraßer Hauptstraße 3). Der Jazzclub kam in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten und wurde 2008 geschlossen. Joe Zawinul benannte ihn nach dem berühmten New Yorker Birdland, der von 1949 bis 1965 einer der beliebtesten Jazzclubs war und den er als den wichtigsten Ort seines Lebens bezeichnete.
