Description
Lassen was a Danish naval officer, who distinguished himself in the battle of Copenhagen in April 1801. Juel made two versions of this painting (Poulsen no. 847). The first is at the museum at Frederiksborg, and this is a repeat (or copy), mentioned by Poulsen. If both made by Juel, they had to have been painted in 1802, as Lassen got the medal in the painting in April 1802, and Juel died in December 1802.
