Français : Jean-Alfred Moisan (1848-1927), fondateur de l'épicerie J.A. Moisan située au 699, rue Saint-Jean, Québec

« J.A. Moisan est né le 25 décembre 1848, du mariage de Jean Moisan, menuisier du faubourg, et de Marie Anne Gingras. Il a grandi au milieu du faubourg Saint-Jean dans la Haute-Ville de Québec, lieu même où il fonde son commerce en 1871, en l'occurrence l’épicerie J.A. Moisan, et y élève sa famille.

En 1885, l’épicier J.A. Moisan est devenu propriétaire de l’immeuble du 699, rue Saint-Jean. Son épicerie était fréquentée par des gens de toutes les classes sociales. On y trouvait déjà des produits rares, non disponibles au marché Berthelot de la Haute-Ville ou au marché Finlay de la Basse-Ville. Il est décédé à l’âge de 78 ans, laissant dans le deuil sa deuxième femme, Ludivine Boudreault, et sept enfants de sa première femme, Laetitia Clavet. »
