Description

Espaço ajardinado que remonta a 1840, com sucessivas actualizações desde esta data. As primeiras notícias que apontam para a existência de um espaço ajardinado em Beja, no mesmo local onde hoje se encontra o Jardim Público, remontam a 1840, e referem que um antigo comandante do regimento 11, na altura aquartelado nas instalações do extinto Convento de S. Francisco, terá ajardinado uma área da cerca do convento.

A actual configuração do jardim começou a tomar forma, no entanto, por volta de 1880, altura em que o município decidiu reformar e melhorar este espaço, dando início a um processo de contínua actualização que se prolonga até aos nossos dias.
