No. i represents Ashirai badly arranged, (i67) JAPANESE FLOWER ARRANGEMENT because two leaves and a flower prevent usfrom a full front view of the main stem.No. 2 represents Ashirai too close to the main stem. No. 3 Ashirai is ideally arranged. Itbeing separate and distinct, the effect is admi-rable. The leaves behind the flower markedby a long line at the right of the arrange-ment render the whole thing very effect-ive. There should always be these leavesin an Ashirai arrangement. (168)
