Japanese Whale Catcher (c. 1970)

Description
English: Whale catcher of the type used off Alaska (c. 1970). Note the catwalk used by the captain or harpooner to get from the bridge to the bow and the harpoon gun mounted on the bow. Catchers were 195–210 ft with crews of 18–20. They operated in fleets of 6–10 along with a factory ship for processing whales.
