English: From the original book, on the temporary suspension of a suspended ceiling during construction: "The strips having been adjusted, they are brought to a uniform level, but crowning slightly, — that is, the centre is a little higher than the sides, — and are held in place either by a long board being placed temporarily beneath them, and propped up from the floor below; or else a long stick is placed beneath them, which is supported by a stout string from the rafters above (fig. 20)." |
