The famous Janaki temple of Nepal is located in Janakpurdham, the district headquarters of Dhanusha district. This temple is located in the center of Janakpur sub-metropolitan ward no. 10, i.e. Janakpur Bazaar. Saint Surdas saw in his dream that this place was the palace of Sitaji in the Ramayana period, so he first built this temple in the shape of a small hut and worshiped there. According to Lal Mohar, King Mukunda Sen of Makwanpuri also visited Janaki and provided 140 bigahs of land. Later, Raja Pratap Singh and his queen Brishbhanu, a descendant of Tikamgarh, came here to pay their respects to their offspring. The temple was damaged by a massive earthquake in 1990 and was renovated in 2032. This Janaki temple is also called Singhmahal or Naulakha temple. This magnificent temple with 60 rooms facing east is built on four floors. The entrance of this temple is written as “King Pratap Singh or Palace of Sita”. The womb with the idol of Ram Janaki is called Ashtakunj. Underground, this temple is built at two angles. Which is called Sainagar and Bath of Ram and Janaki. Three pairs of idols of Rama and Sita are enshrined in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. One of them is a pair of idols brought from Ayodhya. At the top are two pairs of idols of Ram and Sita. Laxman, Shatrughan, Bharat, Mandaki and Shaligram are in the middle of the line. On one side of the main temple is Siddhahanuman and on the other side is Surakisordas. This temple has been built due to their activism. The Mahantha of this Janaki temple is Vaishnav. Behind this temple is Janak Temple. There are 365 Shalikgram. In this temple, there are two friends of King Janak, Rani Sunaina, Parvati, Shankar, Pushpadhwaj, Ganesh, Pushpadhwaj's wife, Urmila, Sukirti and Sita. In the third line are Ram, Sita, Bharat, Laxman, Shatrughan, Radhakrishna, Bramhakpali Hanuman. There are pearls of Laxman in the compund outside the main temple. There are idols of Laxman and Janaki in the upper part. There are also other idols. Here, on the day of Marg Shukla Panchami, Ram Janaki Wedding Festival Mela and on the day of Chaitra Shukla Ram Navami, a big fair of Ram Chandra Janmotsav is held. When King Janak plowed the plow on the day of Baishakh Shukla Navami, Sita was affected by the tip of the plow. According to the statement, Sita's birth anniversary is celebrated every year in Janakpur. 6.5 km from Janakpur, a dola with idol of Mithila Bihari is brought from village Kachuri every year on the day of Falgun Shukla Pratipada. In every temple from Shravan Shukla Pareva to Punirma, the idol of Ram Janaki is also hung in a swing. Wedding Panchami Marg Since Shukla Panchami is the day of marriage of Sita and Ram, there is a big celebration on this day also. There are different seas in this Janakpur. Such as Janak Sagar, Rukmini Sagar, Ram Sagar, Purandar Sagar, Kedar Sagar, Durgasar, Chitradharsar, Gopalsar, Barun Sagar, Murali Sagar, Ratnasagar, Kundavati Sagar, Gautamsar, Basisthasar, Argalasar, Madhyamasar, Janakisar, Kashtaharisar, Sudhasar, Dhatrusar, Padaprakshalansar There are shrines like Purvavratsar, Agnikund, Biwah Kund, Amrit Kund, Bidhakund, Gyan Kund etc.
