Čeština: Jan Pelikán (* 16. října 1889 Praha – 15. února 1942 koncentrační tábor Osvětim) byl sokolský pracovník, tajemník Československé obce sokolské (ČOS), člen předsednictva a vzdělávacího sboru ČOS a člen Komise pro styk se župami. Absolvent Filozofické fakulty pražské univerzity. V oblasti publikační redigoval Věstník sokolský' a napsal několik knih zabývajících se historií sokolské organizace. V roce 1920 zastával funkci člena Slavnostního výboru VII. Všesokolského sletu, později byl zvolen tajemníkem Československé obce sokolské. Výtěžek z X. Všesokolského sletu (konal se v roce 1938) se mu (po německé okupaci Čech a Moravy) podařilo zachránit před konfiskací německými protektorátními úřady. V rámci sokolského odboje podporoval rodiny pronásledovaných sokolů a stanul i v ilegálním vedení sokolské organizace. Společně s Františkem Pecháčkem a Štěpánem Drásalem patřil k významným sokolským odbojářům. Během německé represivní Akce Sokol byl 8. října 1941 zatčen gestapem a později deportován do koncentračního tábora Osvětim, kde byl 15. února 1942 umučen. English: Jan Pelikán (* October 16, 1889 Prague - February 15, 1942 Auschwitz concentration camp) was a Sokol worker, secretary of the Czechoslovak Sokol Community (CSC), member of the CSC presidium and education committee and member of the "Commission for Contact with Counties". He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prague. In the field of publications he edited the Sokol Bulletin and wrote several books dealing with the history of the Sokol organisation. In 1920 he was a member of the Ceremonial Committee of the VII-th All-Sokol gathering. Later he was elected secretary of the Czechoslovak Sokol Society. The proceeds from the X-th All-Sokol gathering (held in 1938), he managed to save it from confiscation by the German Protectorate authorities (after the German occupation of Bohemia and Moravia). As part of the Sokol resistance, he supported the families of the persecuted Sokols and was in the illegal leadership of the Sokol organisation. Together with František Pecháček and Štěpán Drásal, he was one of the important Sokol resisters. During the German repressive "Aktion Sokol" he was arrested by the Gestapo on 8 October 1941 and later deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp, where he was tortured on 15 February 1942.
