Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The ragwort moth is nocturnal and sits in well-protected places during the day with its wings folded together, so that it is quite well camouflaged by its black elytra. When flying, the intensely red hind wings become visible, which is a warning coloration for predators. The moth absorbs the toxins that the caterpillars have stored when eating ragwort, and thus becomes poisonous to predators.
