Notes Military jacket - NCO - QM-Sgt - New Zealand Volunteers Belonged to Edwin Thomas DAWSON (c.1849 – 1898), Quarter-Master Sergeant, Auckland Engineer Volunteers English-born Dawson arrived in New Zealand about 1854. He practiced his profession as chemist in Hobson Street for about twenty years. In the Engineer Volunteers he reached the non-commissioned rank of Quarter-Master Sergeant. After his death, his widow presented a gold medal for inter-company rifle shooting.
