Summary
[edit]DescriptionJWST commissioning - HD 84406 after image stacking.jpg |
English: Imaging of the star HD 84406 during commissioning of the James Webb Space Telescope, at completion of 3rd phase "Image Stacking", released by NASA on 2022-02-25.
After phase 2, the 18 primary mirror segments showed 18 images of the same star. This image shows the results of phase 3, where the images from the 18 primary mirror segments were stacked, so they overlap each other exactly. During the following 3 months, the mirrors will be aligned fully, to focus and synchronize their separate images into one complete image. |
