Description
Deutsch: Das im Vordergrund unterbrochene Gleis ist das Stammgleis der Strecke 6356 von Merseburg, es wurde nach der Einstellung des S-Bahn-Betriebes zwischen Nietleben und Dölau unterbrochen, um den Tunnel zum bis dahin bestehenden Inselbahnsteig zu beseitigen. Der neue Außenbahnsteig mit einer Höhe von 550 mm wurde 2012 vor der Umstellung auf das Netz der S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland angelegt. Auf eine Wiedereinführung des S-Bahn-Betriebes bis Dölau wurde keine Rücksicht mehr genommen. Das zweite Gleis als Stammgleis der Strecke 6355 Abzw Awo–Halle-Nietleben ist auch weiterhin in Richtung Dölau befahrbar.
Der Bahnhof Nietleben wurde in den Sechzigern zum westlichen Betriebsmittelpunkt der S-Bahn Halle ausgebaut. Die Abstellgleise wurden zusätzlich für die Berufsverkehrszüge nach Buna und Merseburg benötigt. Nach deren Einstellung wirkt der Bahnhof etwas überdimensioniert. Während Bauarbeiten im Bahnhof Leipzig Hbf wurden hier eine Zeit lang auch Fernverkehrszüge abgestellt. Zwischen Januar und Dezember 2021 gibt es als Folge der Brückenarbeiten an der Saalequerung und der Merseburger Straße in Halle überhaupt keinen Reiseverkehr.
