Your help in giving this unidentified cactus a name would be greatly appreciated. I can make a stab at the genus but I'll keep my thoughts to myself for the time being. My wife, Michicko, has grown this plant for years. Photographed in a private garden in Berkeley, CA. 5/23/2016—Tentatively identified as Gymnocalycium paediophilum. A good discussion of the species may be found at the Cactus in Habitat website: www.cactusinhabitat.org/index.php?p=specie&id=192&... 5/23/2016—I'm changing the name to Gymnocalycium hybrid. I have learned that the spination does not match that of G paediophilium. See the comments below. |
